I know what its like.

Choosing a career is one of the most significant decisions we make in our lives.

It often involves years of preparation, education, and training.

However, as we grow and evolve as individuals, our priorities and interests shift.

This leads us to question whether the career we’ve chosen is still the right fit.

This can be especially true for individuals in demanding professions like medicine.

You may be asking yourself “What if this is the wrong career?”

Doctors, in particular, feel immense pressure to continue practicing medicine. This happens even when they are no longer passionate about it or find it emotionally draining.

This is most relevant at this time where the NHS is under so much stress and doctors. GPs especially are bearing the brunt of this.

I know what its like working week in and week out in my practice.

One of the most significant challenges of changing careers is the fear of shame and embarrassment.

Society places a great deal of emphasis on the importance of having a successful career. So it’s natural to worry about what others will think of us if we decide to switch paths. This is especially true when we think of family members.

However, it’s important to remember that this is your life, and you are the only one who knows what will bring you fulfilment and happiness.

Choosing to leave or change a career that you’ve invested so much time and effort into can be scary.

It’s crucial to recognize that staying in a job that no longer aligns with your interests and passions can be even scarier.

When you’re feeling stuck, it’s important to reflect on your values, interests, and strengths, and explore career options that align with them.

However, the most important thing to remember that it’s never too late to make a change.

It’s never too late to explore new possibilities.

It’s not a crime that you think “What if this is the wrong career”

There are many resources available to help you navigate the process.
