What would you say if I said Pacers to you?
Marathons?
Opal Fruits?
Star Dust? (didn’t that get banned for some reason??)
Space invader crisps?
Who remembers the good old days then?
If you do you are of that generation too!!!
The best one in my opinion 🙂
The last years heatwave was nothing compared to summer of 1976 .
Watching Dukes of Hazard on a Saturday teatime, along with other classics, A-team, Wonderwoman (Lynda Carter) and of-course Dr. Who.
Who remembers Monkey???
Well yes perhaps just me then on that one…..
Sometimes when I listen to late 70’s and 80’s music it all comes flooding back.
The things we did as kids before computers and technology took over our lives.
Skipping, rubiks cube, hop scotch, french elastic…. even reading!
We are now Gen X apparently (NOT BOOMERS as my children like to call me)
As responsible adults we have our own children, our aging parents, a mortgage…..
And a job we have fallen out of love with.
We ask ourselves most days what happened from the unstoppable optimism and sunshine of 1984 to where we are now?
We worked hard, got our A’levels, got to medical school and survived house jobs with the 1:3 or 1:4 with prospective cover.
Completed VTS and became GPs and the rest as they say is history????
Well not quite,
The job we now do is light years away from when we came into the profession.
There was no NICE guidance, Dr Google or GP vacancies when we started.
There is no shame in realising that you are not enjoying the job you thought was ideal for you when you were in your teens or earlier.
This story is not finished yet.
If you pardon the expression- there is LOTS of life left in the old dog yet
So many choices and so many more options and opportunities than there were back in the 70’s and 80’s
They just need exploring!
