Are you grateful?
Really???
We all talk about gratitude and the benefits and how it changes lives but do we just give lip service to it?
I woke yesterday morning already going through my “to-do” list before I had got out of bed.
I hadn’t really woken up and yet I was thinking about that difficult phone call I had to make, the appraisals I had to complete this morning, while realising that I had to make sure I completed the online grocery shop so we had food for the week.
This is normal for me.
Actually the picture is worse than I had painted it.
Then I got into the shower.
I thought “how lovely and warm this shower “.
Next I was grateful for the lovely aroma of the shower gel,
I was grateful for the warm towel I dried myself with
I was grateful for the birdsong when I opened the window to vent the bathroom
I was grateful for the hot cup of coffee
I was grateful for the cool breeze on my face when I left the house and the lack of rain
I like to think that starting the day like this set me up for the good day I had.
Gratitude does not have to be for big or mega- important things- though they play a part.
Sometimes it is the “small” things that make the difference
Right now I am grateful that I have been able to complete this post and I hope it makes a difference to one person’s day.
